In education, accreditation is typically granted to schools rather than individual courses. Courses are subject to approval by relevant bodies, such as the University of California A-G requirements. The accreditation status of a course depends on whether the school offering it holds accreditation. AlwaysOnline is a program that enables schools to incorporate its curriculum into their own courses. If a school seeks accreditation while utilizing AlwaysOnline, it must pursue accreditation through recognized accrediting organizations, such as Cognia or WASC. It is the school's responsibility to ensure it meets the necessary standards to maintain its accreditation.  An accredited school is authorized to issue an official transcript. If students take SVHS supplemental courses, where SVHS is the school of record, and the courses are graded by SVHS credentialed teachers, then, as an accredited school, SVHS can award an official transcript upon completion. Where another school adopting the AlwaysOnline Curriculum acts as the school of record, regardless of whether SVHS credentialed teachers grade a course, the school must be accredited in order to award an official transcript.  The AlwaysOnline Curriculum can be likened to a digital textbook. Issuing an official transcript is under the authority of an accredited school acting as school of record.
